Reviewing Bad Films

Some may find it easy to critique a bad film. Personally I find it particularly grim, as I believe a good reviewer needs to be objective. Normally speaking my pen glides over the page as I write passionately about each film; this was like trying to get blood from a stone.

Last summer, I went to see Adam Sandler’s latest offering That's my Boy which I wasn't particularly interested in going to see; but I thought might be funny. I have previously found some of his films humorous and cried laughing, but this has completely put me off. Just go with it is an amusing movie, as is 50 First Dates, Anger Management and I now pronounce you Chuck and Larry, but this draws the line.

Did my biased opinion effect my review? Yes.
Why? I went in not entirely interested but expecting it to be funny, and it wasn’t. I believe your mind should be a blank canvas going in to the screening and mine absolutely wasn’t.

I don't feel this was my best work, I was dreading writing the review because I knew I wouldn’t be objective. However, there were no artistic qualities to this film and in that sense I was completely honest.

While I’m not one, there are plenty of Sandler fans out there that will disagree; 34m on his Facebook page alone. So what am I missing?

My Favourite Friday Online finds!

TGIF! Hasn't this been a looong week?

I'm definitely looking forward to X Factor tomorrow night, and Downton on Sunday! Poor Anna - what an awful story line for Julian Fellows to throw into the midst of a household consumed by the loss of Tuxedo shirt?!

I love DIY; and this week I've found an amazing alternative, to regular candle holders... Perfect for making your home a little cosier this autumn!
